M.I.A. Ends 2010 with "ViCKi LEEKX" Mixtape

Friday, 31 December 2010

M.I.A. has been strangely quiet for a couple of months now. No more odd sites with long and quite peculiar names have popped up on the streets of Internet. In retrospect, perhaps 2010 wasn't M.I.A.'s year after all, even if she released her third album "/\/\/\Y/\" and committed ethnic cleansing on the gingers of the world, the thing we all sadly will remember is the ridiculous truffle gate with Lynn Hirschberg.

KanYe West ft. Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Rick Ross & Bon Iver - 'Monster' Official Video

Thursday, 30 December 2010

I'm taking a break from tweaking the new layout for this, the official (but still unfinished) video for KanYe West's 'Monster' featuring Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Jay-Z & Bon Iver. Directed by Jake Nava, watch it while it's up:

Lil Wayne ft. Junior Reid – 'RappaPomPom' (CDQ) (prod. by Streetrunner)

Saturday, 25 December 2010

The unfinished version of Lil Wayne's 'RappaPomPom' featuring Junior Reid leaked back in 2007 but now Streetrunner (who produced it) throws out the proper, finished CDQ as a lil' Christmas treat.

KanYe West ft. Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Vado, CyHi Da Prynce, Pusha T, Musiq Soulchild, Teyana Taylor & Big Sean – 'Christmas In Harlem' (Final)

Thursday, 23 December 2010

Feeling the Christmas spirit yet? I'm sadly not, since I've been down with the flu this week, which explains the heavy silence on the site. But well, here's a good step on the way, the proper CDQ, sans tags, non radio-rip version of 'Christmas In Harlem' (in which Yeezy brings peace between GOOD Music and Dipset), finally liberated by KanYe West himself, and the single version with just CyHi and Teyana is up for buy on iTunes. Enjoy!

First Up!'s Best of 2010: 20 Best Tracks Pt. 3:4

Sunday, 19 December 2010

Another lovely Sunday means another chunk of the best tracks of the year and this Sunday begins with something from Sweden's finest: Robyn.

Robyn - 'Dancehall Queen' (prod. by Diplo)
Remember when that YouTube clip containing master Diplo and Robyn working on a track together surfaced early this year which then spread like a wildfire? Yeah. That track was 'Dancehall Queen', one of the very few GOOD tunes Diplo crafted this in 2010 and it was one of the best tunes tp be featured on the first part of Robyn's "Body Talk"-trilogy and in my oppinion it was the best track of the whole Body Talk"-bunch. Just perfect.

Lil Wayne & Eminem Live on SNL: '6'7"', 'No Love' & 'Wont Back Down'

A couple of hours ago Eminem and Lil Wayne hit the Saturday Night Live stage to perform some of their latest singles. First up Em does 'Wont Back Down', followed by Lil Wayne premiering his latest banger '6'7"' for TV (which has really grown on me the past days) and last but not least they do 'No Love' together for the first time:

Wiz Khalifa ft. Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain - 'Black & Yellow' (G-Mix) Official Remix

Friday, 17 December 2010

While we patiently wait for the proper, non radio-rip version of KanYe's heavy lined up Christmas carol to drop let's enjoy a tune that's been in the making for some time, the highly anticipated official remix of Wiz Khalifa's 'Black & Yellow' with a new verse from Wiz and features from Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain:

Adam Tensta's New Single - 'OK Wow' Remix EP Release

Wednesday, 15 December 2010

Soo, after releasing a couple of free tunes off his Soundcloud the past months Adam Tensta's back people, cause here it is, the first single off Adam upcoming second album "Scared of the Dark" called 'OK Wow', produced by OK Franklin:

Lil Wayne ft. Cory Gunz – '6’7″' (prod. by Bangladesh) (Dirty)

If you missed it in the last post, here's the first official single off Lil Wayne's upcoming album "Tha Carter IV". The track is called '6 foot 7 foot', features Cory Gunz and is produced by Bangladesh.

Mumdance + Drums of Death = Mums of Death

I've said it before but I say it again, I fucking love Jack Adams aka. Mumdance, he's a pure genius! Now he and Drums of Death has joined forces for a collaborative project called "Mums of Death".

The project's a tribute to all old computer games, in other words, right up my alley! Just listen:

Mums Of Death (Mumdance & Drums of Death) - Golden Axe
Mums Of Death (Mumdance & Drums of Death) - Shadow Of The Beast

The first track just ooze SMK doesn't it?

The release is out now on GRECO ROMAN MUSIC and can be bought via Beatport or Juno. Apparently there's also a video in the making for this, can't wait!

Lil Wayne ft. Cory Gunz – '6’7″' The First Offer off "Tha Carter IV"

Tuesday, 14 December 2010

So, here comes the highly anticipated first offer from Lil Wayne's upcoming album "Tha Carter IV" called '6’7″' featuring Cory Gunz, produced by Bangladesh. Since Wayne tossed his old "Tha Carter IV" material on "I Am Not A Human Being" he has now started over from scratch and what do you think? Is this track really 'A Milli' on steroids?

Only radio rip for now and the one below is liberated via Funkmaster Flex. "Tha Carter IV" is scheduled to drop during the first quarter of 2011.

Updated: with proper dirty version.

Monday, 13 December 2010

Besides KanYe West's 'Monster'-video I'm really really looking forward to see the official visuals for that 'Game Over' Female Takeover remix of Tinchy Stryder's latest single by Ruff Diamondz, Adot, Envy, Cherri V, Baby Blue, RoxXxan, Lioness, Mz Bratt and Lady Leshurr. But while we wait, here's a behind the scenes clip courtesy of GrimeDaily where the ladies also talk how the remix was instigated by Cherri V and what they're up to right now:

First Up!'s Best of 2010: 20 Best Tracks Pt. 2:4

Sunday, 12 December 2010

Here comes the second part of the wrap up of the 20 best tracks of 2010, in no particular order, just five good tunes that defines 2010 for me:

Spoek Mathambo - 'Mshini Wam'

Spoek Mathambo recently got nominated as Best New Act of 2010 in URB's Readers poll (cast your votes here) and he sure deserves it cause 2010 has been Spoek's year, without a doubt. Releasing his debut solo album "Mshini Wam", gracing the cover of FADER Magazine, touring the world like a madman and been featured on so many nice tracks it's absolute ridiculous. But what places him on this list is the album titled single 'Mshini Wam' featuring Yolanda Fyrus Xashi and Avuyile Tosa. Para-pa-pa-pum-pum!

Katy B - 'Katy on a Mission'

It's kinda hard to choose which track of all the ones that featured the queen of dubstep aka. Katy B that was the best this year. 'Louder'? 'Hold Me' from The Count & Sinden's long awaited debut album "Mega Mega Mega"? 'Lights On' featuring Ms. Dynamite? Katy's and Magnetic Man's huge single 'Perfect Stranger'? Or well, I guess the choice is quite easy if you think about it, it's of course the her first own single, the Benga-produced 'Katy on a Mission'.

Nicki Minaj ft. Eminem - 'Roman's Revenge'

I still after some weeks think that Nicki Minaj's debut album "Pink Friday" is the album of the year. Nicki delivered. And here with Eminem she serves Lil' Kim's head on a gold platter. Can't wait for that monster remix of this that's in the making right now. If you can't wait, here's Busta Ryhmes part of the project as a lil' bonus.

Matt Shadetek - 'Snapdragons'

Alongside Sky Ferreira's 'One' and Spoek Mathambo's 'Mshini Wam' above, Matt Shadetek's 'Snapdragons' was one of my main beach anthems this year. It's taken from Matt's solo debut "Flowers" that dropped on Dutty Artz at the time I was moving and had no internetz therefore I was not able to review it. However, the album, which is a grime/tropical/bass-dream is gonna be featured on my "Top Ten Albums of 2010"-list, for sure.

Christina Aguilera ft. M.I.A. - 'Elastic Love'
Here comes another summer anthem taken from Christina Aguilera's sixth studio album "Bionic". Never had time to review that one either even if it was unexpectedly good actually. One of the best tracks was this feature with M.I.A. and every line of this song was kinda applicable to my messy love life back then. Thanks heaven that book is now closed.

Chase & Status - "No More Idols" Official Tracklist & 'Flashing Lights' ft. Sub Focus & Takura

Earlier this weekend BBC had the world premire of Chase & Status 'Flashing Lights' ft. Sub Focus & Takura on BBC Radio 1's Dubstep Takeover with Annie Mac and Mistajam (listen back to the whole show here). Haven't found a decent radio rip that make the track any justice so here's instead a cut from Nero live at the Sanctuary Outdoor Festival:

'Flashing Lights' is taken from the duo's forthcoming album "No More Idols" that drops the 31st of January next year and here's the official tracklist featuring well known guests like Tine Tempah, Plan B and Dizzee Rascal as well as a few untipped ones like Cee-Lo Green and White Lies:

1. 'No Problem'
2. 'Fire In Your Eyes' ft. Maverick Sabre
3. 'Let You Go' ft. Mali
4. 'Blind Faith' ft. Liam Bailey & Yolanda Quartey

Natalie Storm - "Songs 2 Fuck and Fight 2" Mixtape

Tuesday, 7 December 2010

Even though Natalie Storm released her Sticky-produced 'Look Pon Me' back in February that track still hasn't left my .mp3-player. Never getting tired of it and here comes an extra addition of 33 banging tracks in form of a brand new mixtape called "Songs 2 Fuck and Fight 2".

Produced by Federation Sound and Prodigal, "Songs 2 Fuck and Fight 2" showcases Natalie Storm's hardcore badgyal attitude and her full control of any tracks tossed at her: dancehall, global bashment, UK Grime, Funky, Soca and even classic New York House. The complete mix is straight fire but absolute best of the tracks featured is 'Boys 4 Breakfast' where she goes over the 'Showa Eski Riddim' (Wiley's classical 'Eskimo' reworked by Dylan Powe/Prodigal, buy the full 'Showa Eski Riddim'-single release featuring Wiley himself, Ward 21, Rage, Lady Chann and many more over here.)

Also, peep Wiley's great contribution to that 'Showa Eski'-release below and while I'm on dear old Wiley, seriously what's up with his Kim Kardashian crush/obsession? It feels a tiny bit out of hand?

Nicki Minaj Performs Her New Single 'Moment 4 Life' Live on Lopez Tonight

Last night Nicki Minaj was on Lopez Tonight and performed her brand new single 'Moment 4 Life' (that drops today if I'm not completely wrong), taken from her debut album "Pink Friday". The single also features Drake, however, he's not present during this performance:

Nicki also did a small interview with George where she revealed a new alter ego named Rrrrrosa and dear old media, watch and learn, esp. you Regis, this is how you do a proper fun interview:

Kid Sister - 'Kiss Kiss Kiss' (prod. by Afrojack) off Her Upcoming Mixtape

Recentley Kid Sister has teamed up with Fafi and Hennessy for some magic drinkable magic but next month (1/11/2011) she will release a brand new mixtape on Fool's Gold Recs called "Kiss Kiss Kiss".

And here comes a buzz single off that project, with the same title 'Kiss Kiss Kiss', on lovely production signed Afrojack.

Also, speaking of Fafi, don't miss one of the best looking videos of 2010, Carte Blanche's 'Do! Do! Do!' ft. Kid Sister, directed by Fafilicious:

Nicki Minaj & Katy Perry - 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' Live Vh1 Divas Salute the Troops

Monday, 6 December 2010

OH MY! Who would have known that such a dated "Salute the Troops"-event could be this fun and modern? I must say, I'm not completely on board with the whole patriotism thing the land of the starts and stripes got going but this event hosted by Vh1 brought something utterly amazing to the table so I'm gonna shut up on that one.

First see (thanks to the almighty Yardie) Nicki Minaj perform 'Right Thru Me', sadly they cut right before 'Roman's Revenge' which you can peep here.

Then, here's a lil' piece of history people, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj does Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and yes, I actually started to cry when I saw it:

WHO brings Nicki Minaj to Sweden in 2011? WHO?!

Chase & Status ft. Liam Bailey - ‘Blind Faith’ Official Video

Here's the official (uncensored) visuals for Chase & Status upcoming single 'Blind Faith' featuring Liam Baily. The single pack drops the 24th of January 2011 and includes remixes from Trolley Snatcha, MJ Cole, Loadstar and a longer 10 minutes directors cut of the video below:

Ciara - 'Gimmie Dat' (Urban Bass Remix) & "Basic Instinct" Album Snippets

Wednesday, 1 December 2010

Ciara's upcoming fourth album "Basic Instinct" will drop the 10th (14th in the US) and you can listen to all album snippets now and place your pre-order on Amazon. Personally I think I've settled with the fact that CiCi never will be that crunk-chick she once was as "Basic Instinct" is more sleek/electro/modern mish mash than raw crunk'n'b but on the other hand, it already sounds way better than "Fantasy Ride".

And this new Urban bass remix of her 'Gimmie Dat', produced by Soundz, is a bundle of joy esp. with lines like "We don’t need no tweeters / All we need is bass". Love it. Also, 'Girls Get Your Money' will be absolutely brilliant.

Btw. Random I know but WHO builds these freaky shoes? Crossover between stripper heels and Chucks? Maluca also had a pair but Vans x cut out Buffalo? I go all in on sneaker heels but not on fugly sneakers like vans or Chucks.

Diddy & Dirty Money - 'Ass on the Floor' (prod. by Swizz Beatz) & "Last Train to Paris" Album Snippets

The day before yesterday Swizz Beatz unleashed 'Ass on to the Floor' featuring Diddy & Dirty Money on his #MonsterMondays, a track from Didy Pops and Dirty Money's upcoming debut album "Last Train to Paris". The track is based around Major Lazer's 'Pon de Floor' from last summer and feels quite dated if you ask me.

However, today Amazon provided the album snippets for "Last Train to Paris" which is due in stores December 14th. The 16 track album features tracks with Drake, Justin Timberlake, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Usher, Chris Brown and Swizz Beatz. Also, here's the official video for 'Coming Home' ft. Skylar:

Nicki Minaj's Ass is Up For Grabs on Regis & Kelly

Today Nicki Minaj entered the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 list with her debut album "Pink Friday" with 375 190 units sold the first week. Congrats mami! But two days ago she visited Regis & Kelly and do you remember the last time Nicki Minaj dropped by their show to perform 'Check It Out' with Will.I.Am and how I vented how nasty Regis was? Well, this time when she did the show on her own and performed 'Right Thru Me' things got even worse, Regis totally crossed the line for what's acceptable.

You dirty old man, seriously, I have no respect for men in media like you. NONE. Why should women put up with this shit? WHY? Enough is enough. Henry Rollins once spoke about that men are pigs, I think he had you in mind:

T.I. ft. Drake - 'Poppin Bottles' & 'Castle Walls' ft. Christina Aguilera off "No Mercy"

Tuesday, 30 November 2010

2010. The year rappers that rots behind bars releases records? Well, yes but T.I. is everything but happy about his current incarceration, which he recently expressed in an official letter on his website, calling the experience a "real ass whoopin’". Eh yeah. But even if things are kinda hard for T.I. right now, that 7th album of his is shaping up pretty nicely. It's now only a week before "No Mercy" hits the shelves the 7th of December and here's two lovely tasters off the "No Mercy"-platter.

First, 'Poppin' Bottles' ft. Drake, besides another great production from T-Minus, the absolute best in this track is without a doubt Tip's line "Imma Fuck you couch, Rick James". Hilarious, always:

Then we have the Alex da Kid-produced 'Castle Walls' featuring Christina Aguilera. Simply wow, just listen:

Robyn - 'Dancehall Queen' Official Video & Dillon Francis Remix

Yesterday I unleashed First Up!'s wrap up of 2010 starting with five of the best 20 songs and I can promise you one thing, Robyn's 'Dancehall Queen' will be included sometime during the coming Sundays. Still so damn good and watchu know, Robyn just dropped the official video for the track. A cute karaoke mish mash, DHQs included of course. The clip is co-directed by Diplo, Red Foxx & Pomp&Clout:

And like that Diplo and Stenchman remix featuring Spoek Mathmabo that served as the iTunes bonus track for the full "Body Talk" album wasn't more than enough, here's another brilliant one from Mad Decent and Dillon Francis ft. Name Brand. Also look out for Dillon's upcoming 4 track EP that will be dropping on Mad Decent this spring.

Nicki Minaj - "My Time Now" Documentary

Nicki Minaj doesn't save a word, instead she goes all in in her "My Time Now" documentary that premiered on MTV an hour ago and it's honest and real.

Peep the whole thing right here:

Update, since MTV now has disabled the links below for watching in the EU (gotta love the contra productive in country restrictions on the world wide web), here's all 45 minutes divided into three clips, thanks to Yardie:

"I put quality in what I do. I spend time and I spend energy and I spend effort and I spend everything I have, every fiber of my being, to give people quality, Is that wrong? For wanting more for myself, wanting people to treat me with respect?" she continues. "But you know what? Next time, they know better. But had I accepted the pickle juice, I would be drinking pickle juice right now." [...] "When you're a girl, you have to be everything. You have to be dope at what you do but you have to be super sweet and you have to be sexy and you have to be this, you have to be that, and you have to be nice, It's like, 'I can't be all those things at once. I'm a human being."

First Up!'s Best of 2010: 20 Best Tracks Pt. 1:4

One of the best years in the history of music is almost over people and you know what that means, best of and wrap up lists galore folks! I for one I love them and this year I'll feature 5 of the 20 best tracks, starting today, every Sunday night until New Years, in no particular order, just five good tunes that defines 2010 for me. Let's go!

Fol Chen - 'In Ruins'
I slept hard and good on 'In Ruins' when it was released back in April and I slept until the amazingly catchy instrumental was featured in the "Unfriendly Chat" episode of CSI:NY a couple of months back. I was blown away, my butt cheeks was jumping of joy, then a couple of weeks after it was also featured in a sex scene in Weeds and I just knew I had the had sex to that song... Amazing. However, Fol Chen's "The New December" album they released during the summer is a bit of snooze, 'In Ruins' is the only good that comes out of it but I'm happy with that. MASTERPIECE.

Mash Up International & Gnucci Banana - 'Animal'
2010 was the year that Sweden got a world-class rap star in the same calibre as M.I.A. No Joke. Sorry, I know Ana, I could be bias but I'm not, the fact is that she IS by far the most interesting female that raps in a LONG time. Witty and fun. Just how I like 'em and she puts on an amazing live show. STOCKHOLM, are you ready? THIS SATURDAY. AT NU!. BE THERE! More info coming soon. I can almost guarantee that 'Animal' will be on the repertoire.

JME - 'Mario's Flag'
Truth be told, I've lost nearly all the faith I once had for the Adenuga brothers. JME's latest album "BLAM!" that was released back in October is boring. I'm sorry. JME, sure, you are mad talented, funny and all that jizzy jazz, but the last album feels like a one note and Skepta, boy oh boy, lay down that mic, get back to producing for a while.

BUT, JME's "BLAM!" contained one goodie this 29 year old have been waiting for a LONG time, JME's phenomenal instrumental called 'Mario's Flag'.

| zShare

Chase & Status & Dizzee Rascal - 'Heavy'
'Heavy' was featured as one of the many bonus tracks on Dizzee's re-release of his "Tongue N' Cheek" from last year and will be on Chase & Status upcoming album "No More Idols" that drops in the 31st of January next year and I can't say more than the song title says it all.

| zShare

Sky Ferreira - 'One' (BAR9 Remix)
2010 was the year when Sky Ferreira stepped out of that Uffie video, laid the world under her young feet and whipped up some true magic together with Marit Bergman and Bloodshy & Avant and got the cream of the crop to remix it and this amazing remix from BAR9 will be on my mp3-player for a very long long time. Sky's debut album drops the 11th of January next year (1/11/2011).

Ricky Blaze is re-releasing his 'Feel Free' as it will appear on his "My Name is Ricky Blaze" album slated for a release next year, milking out the last drop of the song with a new verse from Jim Jones, Nicki's contribution is still however the same one from like two years back, the same brilliant one (and one of my personal Nicki-verses of all time); "Step your cookies up, I go get you a ladder". Epic.

Also, the founder of the best bacon in the world, Crossfaded Bacon that is, Emynd has laid his hands on Trey Songz & Nicki's 'Bottoms Up' and created a nasty good Atlanta bass remix. Enjoy!
